On behalf of IkamvaYouth learners I would like to thank everyone who is involved in the IkamvaYouth project.
Without either the volunteers or the learners, IkamvaYouth wouldn’t be possible, because building a house needs a group of people to plan first before building. It is the same as building a brighter future, it needs good people who don’t hesitate to give support and offer advice.
The commitment of IkamvaYouth learners motivates the volunteers to keep on the good work of helping the learners. Even though it costs them they continue sacrificing anyway, because they can see that we really need it. With their help I believe that we can do it, we can come up with good results through hard work and commitment. Some learners have really improved in previous exams by up to two symbols.
There are some learners who have no time to open books at home due to circumstances but just coming here for 3 hours during weekdays and on Saturdays they are able to learn and gain something that will definitely help them in the later stage. There are those who are unfortunate and cannot go to school because they have no money to pay school fees, buy uniforms or books, but most of all learners see their futures flow into the ocean once they matriculate. Learners who fail the final exam or do not achieve good results think that their dreams are over. But there are ways of improving your results in order to get into higher educational institutions.
For some of us who are doing our major subjects on standard grade (SG) it becomes really nerve racking because universities and companies giving bursaries want learners with subjects on HG.
There are learners who work very hard and are able to get exemptions and distinctions. These students really commit themselves, and show us that we a(( have the potential to succeed, but only through hard work. Let’s commit ourselves, people.
Lastly I would like to say good luck to those who have prepared themselves for 2005 final matric exams. Good luck to you alL!
