Nolusindiso Mato

Nolusindiso (Cyndy) manages IkamvaYouth's annual newsletter, and is also a member of the admin task team. She joined IkamvaYouth in 2004 as a grade 11 learner, because she wanted to perform better in her studies. Cyndy is currently studying electrical engineering at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), and tutors Maths and Biology at IkamvaYouth.

Cyndy volunteers for IkamvaYouth because she can see that many people are benefitting from it. She says that IkamvaYouth has given her the strength to believe in herself, and has also helped her to think of herself as a poet. She says that IkamvaYouth has given her “the ability to learn more about myself, and to know that I have another family besides at home.”

She has ideas and dreams for IkamvaYouth to become bigger and better. Cyndy enjoys listening to reggae, writing poems and short stories, and performing. She is a good listener, and can help those who are feeling down to feel better about themselves. She plans to become an electrical engineer and plough her skills into the development of of South Africa.
