The 2008 Holiday Programme, hosted again at the University of the Western Cape, was a success, thanks to everyone involved. Ninety three learners attended the two-week program meant to enhance their knowledge, as well as to ensure that they were well prepared for the upcoming term and exams. Not only were students tutored in Maths, Physics, and English, but they were also introduced to new concepts recently added to the new curriculum, such as Evolution.

Each morning of the holiday programme consisted of tutoring and testing in multiple subjects (with a tea break half-way through), then came lunch prepared by Lead By Example (LBE) catering, and then a variety of workshops in the afternoons run by our amazing volunteers – HIV/AIDS, letter writing, photography, career guidance, fine arts, and more!

One workshop to highlight was the photography workshop. Learners were given cameras donated by Cameraland to take photos around their homes, later to be printed and exhibited at our recent Photography Exhibition and Talent Show, held on 19 July.

A big congratulations goes out to our learners, who sacrificed their holiday to travel to the University of the Western Cape and partake in our Holiday Programme. It is a sacrifice that they will not regret, for it is a choice to better their future in education!

A final thanks goes to EVERYONE involved in the holiday programme: all sponsors, tutors, volunteers, learners, friends and family.
