IkamvaYouth fellowship awardee celebrates Obama's victory outside the White House

Submitted by Joy Olivier on Thu, 2008-11-06 06:54.

Last night in Washington DC, strangers were hi-fiving each other in the streets, and gleefully embracing each other. And I was there, joining in as people shouted “Yes we can! Yes we can!”

In his first speech as president elect, Obama spoke about change. Since 2003, IkamvaYouth's learners and volunteers have been showing that yes, we can work hard and help each other to change. IkamvaYouth's innovative by-youth for-youth, cost-effective model has been recognised by the International Youth Foundation, who've selected 20 young social entrepreneurs from over 800 applicants from around the world.

Good Luck Ikamvanites with your final exams

Submitted by SIMPHIWE DASI on Thu, 2008-10-30 14:51.
IkamvaYouth wishes all our volunteers that are studying at tertiary institutions all the strength to study and do well during their December exams. IkamvaYouth feels deeply indebted by the amount of time you have dedicated to come out to Tutor learners at Cato Manor in KZN & Khayelitsha in WC. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you as you undergo the exam period. The learners as well are deeply expressing their wishes for all of you and appreciate the time and effort you have taken to come all the way from your institutions to tutor them. Again we want to let you know that without your dedication and commitment IkamvaYouth would have a difficult time in carrying out its duties.
