Career guidance is essential for the information and support learners need to make well thought-out choices about their post-school lives.
The objectives of IkamvaYouth's career guidance programme are to:
- raise awareness of post-school educational and job-based training opportunities
- address learners’ immediate concerns
- promote self development
- develop career development skills
- help learners make well thought-out decisions
- raise awareness of skills needed in everyday life
Workshops are held twice a month at each library, and cover a wide range of career guidance and life skills subjects, including:
- information about specific fields of study or careers
- study methods
- interview techniques
- application procedures for various tertiary education institutions
- HIV/AIDS awareness and positive living
- gender discrimination and violence
- personal development and leadership
