Career Guidance and Life Skills

Career guidance is essential for the information and support learners need to make well thought-out choices about their post-school lives.

The objectives of IkamvaYouth's career guidance programme are to:

  • raise awareness of post-school educational and job-based training opportunities
  • address learners’ immediate concerns
  • promote self development
  • develop career development skills
  • help learners make well thought-out decisions
  • raise awareness of skills needed in everyday life

Workshops are held twice a month at each library, and cover a wide range of career guidance and life skills subjects, including:

  • information about specific fields of study or careers
  • study methods
  • interview techniques
  • application procedures for various tertiary education institutions
  • HIV/AIDS awareness and positive living
  • gender discrimination and violence
  • personal development and leadership

Workshops are held by IkamvaYouth volunteers and associates, as well as other community-based and non-profit organisations. If you are interested in facilitating a workshop at IkamvaYouth, please contact Ayanda .
