Thobela's role is to make sure that there are enough tutors teaching the right subjects for our learners at the Nyanga branch. He motivates the learners to work hard, and ensures that everything runs smoothly.

Thobela joined IkamvaYouth in 2004 as a grade 11 learner. He is currently studying a BSc at UCT and writing poetry. Explaining why he is a member of the core team of volunteers, Thobela says, “Ikamvayouth is by youth for youth organisation and I love working with youth. Our main purpose is to open gates for disadvantage students to tertiary level that alone is improving my community and the whole Nation. I was helped in this organisation to be where I am now, I got love from this organisation now I am giving it back to my community by volunteering in this organisation.”

Thobela's plans for the future include “having my own lab where I will do all my research and influencing (through my poetry) people to express themselves fully with their talents.”
